BBOY, CURATOR, MIDWEST METRO, NASHVILLAIN, ZERO.

Alternative rap creative BBOY ZERO lives on the left of center, with witty lines at every turn over self-produced bravado.

The Nashville native originally hails from Indianapolis, IN, where he cofounded Naptown’s first and only street dance studio and made his high school spending money by teaching classes and selling beats. Growing up on Wu-Tang Clan and BROCKHAMPTON at the same time created an artist who appreciates something different within every era of hip-hop. The “TEMP CHECK” EP showcases his eclectic taste, with distorted 808s on “BUFFALO/MAUI” leading into the rugged and raw “WISHAMFWOULD”.

The colorful persona of the so-called “NASHVILLAIN” comes from a unique stitching of alternative rock, electronic, & chip-tune sounds alongside a childlike wonder & creative expression that resonates with old heads, skater kids, and the chronically online.

“The project I’m the proudest of was creating “the album I’ve always wanted to listen to”. I released LOVE ARCADE last May after nearly two years of work. LOVE ARCADE is an ode to my childhood. It represents my love for hip-hop, my nostalgia for video games, and how well the two can blend. The beats are vibrant, glitchy, and lay the soundscape in 13 tracks. With support from a killer feature list and talented engineers, LOVE ARCADE is a unique experience that I will always love myself for.”

Around the time that Clar put out “Digital Candyland” as a single under his performing name BBOY ZERO, Floyd, an African American, died as Minneapolis police officer Derek Chauvin knelt on Floyd’s neck for nearly 8 minutes during an arrest. Chauvin, a white officer, has been charged with second-degree murder, among other charges. The incident sparked Black Lives Matter protests around the nation.

I felt like I would regret self-promoting my music, especially as a white dude, during that time”, Clar said. “I owe everything to the Black community because they have created all of the art and music that I love.”
